It's been ages since I was on here and a lot of it's to do with not having my camera. Got it back now so no more excuses to not try to improve my picture taking technique. I have been writing in the meantime... Maybe I'll get the courage to post some of it on here.
In other news, work's been taking up all of my time (LIES!!!).
OK, not all of it. But I got some news yesterday (this morning) which makes everything I've done this last year worthwhile. I'll quote: "It is my pleasure as WCCI EC program co-chair and head of the award committee to inform you that your paper, Measuring Exploration/Exploitation in Particle Swarms Using Swarm Diversity has been selected as one of the three best student papers for WCCI 2008."
To explain the above: a paper I wrote and submitted to the WCCI at the end of last year, based on work I'm doing for my Masters in AI, has been selected as one of the best student submissions. The WCCI is the World Congress in Computational Intelligence and the next conference (which I hope I'll be able to go to- trying to get a Chinese Visa) is in June, at Hong Kong.
I've been having a few doubts about the usefulness of my masters research and I've been delaying completing it (lies again, that's really more due to my laziness). This was the shot in the arm I was waiting for. I could already see all the way to the end of my research tunnel, I've just got to get off my arse and finish the damn thing
I'll wind down now... Just thought to share the details of my last couple of months with you guys...
Enjoy!
